Freshly felled tree trunk colours

This freshly chopped down tree trunk was near the car when I’d finished shooting all the autumn colour shots you see here and it was so similar in general hue and tone to all those wonderful leaves I couldn’t resist including it in this batch of images - even though it has nothing to do with autumn season but the land management that goes on all through the year on well looked after land. I’m always amazed this fibrous material inside the tree sucks up so much water each day ! I mean, how !? Constant seepage rather than one long suck !? Amazing creations - as R U
