  • Beautiful white summer seedhead 1

    Beautiful white summer seedhead 1

These very detailed white flower seedheads proliferate in mid summer June and July and, in soft gentle light under the canopy, give up their wonderful detail, hues and architectures without becoming blown out. One of the many outdoor plants you need still air to shoot so you can keep the ISO right down and get all that nice detail plus live with the slow shutter speed needed to go with that along with the max depth of field of e.g. f22 A peaceful feel to it all.

  • Stunning Mauve Summer flowers 1

    Stunning Mauve Summer flowers 1

These come in waves along the edges of treelines or rivers and by august the bees are all over them because at that time these clever flowers put out the pheremones they love to smell and whole colonies of bees go constantly in and out of these great welcoming flowers, pollinating everything in sight ! What a wonderfully well thought out system ! Nice one God ! When you see them en masse out there they have an almost satiny feel about them all - especially through the lens with bunched up depth of field. A bit like settling down in an old fashioned cinema, with that deep red plush curtaining in front of you and the lights slowly dimming and everything full of lush expectation !

  • Delicate Blue Bluish Summer Flowers 1

Delicate Blue Bluish Summer Flowers 1

These are fugitive colours because they don’t easily fit into any preselected palette on the camera chip so you need adjust several settings to try and recreate what they look like for real - which is what this shot does. (those main settings are : White Balance / Shooting modes, particularly hue and saturation and ISO - when you change the light ‘temperature’ settings and come down from hot white daylight at 5560, the slightest changes alter the hue graduations within and around all colours and detail, {cooler or warmer / bluer or redder} as well as the shadow hues, and so you need to play around, in the available light you have in front of you, till you recreate what it is you wish to try and save onto the chip. Basically you’re looking to warm or cool the hues and add or take away saturation, keeping max detail and depth of field for whatever it is you’re making the main subject of your shot. Hope that helps !

A peaceful feel to it all.

  • Natural Grasses

    Natural Grasses

These delicate things like shady under-canopy protection but seem to thrive wherever they seed - they are the most prolific growths on Our Shared Planet Earth. In this early young stage they look like miniature fir trees on some Alaskan landscape somewhere. Amazingly detailed and perfect in every way ! Summer growth, thriving wherever you look !

Beautiful pink and white summer flowers 1

These wonderful creations grace the edges of rivers and tree lines and have the most extraordinarily lovely shapes, hues, architectures and textures. You need still air - no breeze - to really do these justice, so as to keep the ISO right down and the detail right up - and the slow shutter speed that goes with that, so as to use e’g f22 etc., With a bit of water droplet hanging after the morning dew, there is nothing lovelier to come across on an early walk through open parkland, in stillness and peace.

  • Thick stem rimmed with light

    Thick stem rimmed with light

Not all plants and shrubs, flowers and leaves, are delicate - some are in your face ! - Like this one. If this was outside a nightclub it’d be a bouncer ! I liked the strongish rim lighting up and down some of the stems here and it somehow makes the tough pugilistic flowers/seedheads just that bit tougher and ready for anything - which they are really.

  • A Universe of Yellow Flowers

    A Universe of Yellow Flowers

In the deep shade under a heavily summer weighted green leaved tree, these tiny yellow flowers are making their way up and outward, protected by the shrubs and tree trunks all around them. Looking like other worlds in some other universe maybe - delicately hanging in a void, doing their thing - trusting they’ve gottit right !

  • Small Summer Seedheads

    Small Summer Seedheads

These tiny things look a bit triffid-like and their closed pods like they could be something out of an ‘Alien’ film, but they show wonderful hues and amazing architectures, all over the place in mid summer, and life in all its’ fullness is evident and proven - in front of our very eyes, and all we have to do is allow our Faith in The Abundant Provision of The Lord Jesus and Our Father God – El-Shaddai - to be encouraged and to grow in childlike trust - by just looking around with the eyes of our Spirit and Heart wide open at what has been created for us to live within and have our being so well provided for - all we have to do is get thankful, become grateful, choose to trust in The Words of El-Shaddai, and look after it all - and each other !

  • A riot of late foxgloves

    A riot of late foxgloves

These tall growing strong coloured flowers, in mid July, are settled in a small well of land on a steepish rise, protected by the dense trees behind them, and the river down below in front of them - no-one can get at them ! So there they congregate, all seeming to be discussing important things to each their, with no dogs or people to trample down their absurdly tall and vulnerable high heights ! A veritable wonderment really - but there they are, and happily so.

  • Wild Orchid Flowers

    Wild Orchid Flowers

That’s what the app said when we scanned this beautiful flower head. It apparently is a form of a wild orchid plant, just growing quietly in deep shade up the top of a small rise on one side of a river, surrounded by shrubs and tree protections, undisturbed by passers by who don’t come here, on this side of the river

  • Big ferns in quiet shade

    Big ferns in quiet shade

This is a big fern and will get bigger. The very soft pale afternoon light, coming down through thin cloud up there and much tree canopy latticed above and around this ground fern casts a lovely gentle wash of light that seems to enhance the softness of the hues and the delicacy of the wonderful architecture on show here. A quiet rainforest moment maybe !

  • Natural Hostas gathered round their tree in Summer 1

Natural Hostas gathered round their tree in Summer 1

These wonderful big leaved forest floor plants have all that great detail and architecture on the tops of their leaves and they like to grow undisturbed in shady places protected by bigger things, like, a decent tree. Their lush white flowers and seedheadsspear upwards in July and the spread of their leaves make wonderful platforms for insects and small flying things of all kinds to rest up on

  • Summer flowers in profusion 1

    Summer flowers in profusion 1

These beautiful little flowers push their way out of whatever foliage and obstructions may be around to just hang out in the sunshine and as much available light as they can get each 12hrs or so - looking stunning in the process. In just the right light they can look like hosts of small butterflies - if you just tilt your head just right !
