    Yellow Laburnum Hanging Flowers 1

When these ‘Golden Chain’ tees are in flower like this you feel you are walking in the original garden they’re so beautiful. Delicate little flowers but en masse they overwhelm the senses with their plethora of that soft yellow colour, almost a fugitive hue, which is hard to get exactly on film. A lovely example of this tree, standing right on the edge of the small river – invisible right in front of this tree down there under the vegetation.

Rhododendron Tree in full bloom 1

These are amazing trees because they keep their luscious green leaves all year round, providing wonderful green cover for wildlife and the pumping out of essential oxygen for the humans, and are prolific in their beautiful opaque mauve and off-white flowers which add beauty to anywhere they take hold. They particularly like the edges of rivers and can be seen gracing many such places, all through the year.

These are extraordinarily beautiful flowers. Their design, architectures, colours and subtle hue gradations are astounding in their complexity and different light values as the light comes in through rather than straight onto them. An endless joy to wander through woodland and find one or two of these great creations lit up transiently by soft sunlight and almost glowing in the shadows around them. A truly wonderful flower and, my goodness !, to have them created in such annual profusion for us all to enjoy and benefit from - what blessings indeed !

  • Forget me Nots appearing

    Forget me Nots appearing

These tiny blue flowers are a joy to see, gracing small swathes of the forest floor in places where they get some sun but also some nice shady protected bits as well. They’re small, and the temptation is to get a really close macro shot of just one but they imply more of themselves if you show a few together. That’s my take on it anyway. Hope they bless you.

  • Pink Purslane Flowering

    Pink Purslane Flowering

These gorgeous white flowers come in swathes of beautifulness and delight hearts when they start up in late springtime. They are also called Siberian Spring Beauty, which I like a lot because to seems to describe something real a out the effect they have on you as you see them from afar and then stand admiring what they all do, so easily, each seasons, blessing everyone and everything in sight. A Happy Plant.

  • Small pink flowers in the shade

Small pink flowers in the shade

These great small little things shine out in shady bits and wave around in any breeze so getting a still day to see them like this was a real blessing. Just a little bit of late afternoon light coming in through the canopy above, lighting up the delicate hues on their petals and giving us a nice contrast to the relative darks all around them. A nice moment near the forest floor

  • Tiny White flowers in a breeze

Tiny White flowers in a breeze

More delicate little flowers, this time all doing some sort of maneuver in the small breezes the air mostly always seems to hold out there. They have a lovely effect when you see them in large numbers and you seem to see them without actually seeing them too closely because somehow, their shapes seem to stand out although seeing them really clearly is not an immediate thing, they move and shift so easily in any breeze. Lovely though.

  • Rhododendron flowers in the water

    Rhododendron flowers in the water

These lush summer reflections in the small river here give a nice sense of the fullness of summer growth everywhere now. Sorting out what are reflections and what is vegetation hanging low down above the water is pat of the nice challenge here - just as it was when I saw it and tried to record what it actually looked like which was, full-on beauty in technicolour

  • Buttercup in all its’ Glory 1

Buttercup in all its’ Glory 1

These are wonderful in the swathes of uncountable numbers you can often see these in but every now and then you get a single one that stands out in the shade somewhere and on a still enough day you can get a shot of one that isn’t moving. (yes, I know you can use a fast speed and high ISO and a larger f-number to freeze it in any movement but when you do that you lose some of the back to front detail data and there is a definite difference between the way hues record themselves on the chip when you use long shutter speeds and max depth of field – as well as the light value you give the chip between 5560 and 3320 {daylight to incandescent} so, if you’ll allow it, trying for a still breezeless day is, in my experience, the only way to get what you see here - in quite this way : try it why dontcha ! - f32 @ ISO 100 at 1.3sec - you might have to go slower or a little bit faster on the speed depending on the depth of the shade and, mind the breeze as well as play around with whether or not you give it pure white light at 5560 or go a little less or more than that to warm it up or cool it down a bit {depending on the hues in the shade} ! - and don’t leave out the NDF nor the circular polarizer. If confused now, see my data on shooting techniques and hopefully that will help)
