Southern Arran late afternoon

The light playa many games from behind Arran towards the end of a day and this, in B&W seemed to strip it down to basic elements and patinas.

This solitary jet skier wooshed into a small old harbour before being off on his way out to sea again. The sprat and the light was nice against the darks.

Contre Jour (shooting against the light) shows up the power and direction of this very late afternoon shot, giving the massive amounts of moving water here the power and inevitable imminent arrival not visible in this way at other times.

Arran on a windy day

Some days you cannot see the Isle of Arran at all. It is as if it is not there and the sky full of cloud covers it all. This day it was unusually close, and the bird seemed to celebrate that fact.

This small river, home to fish on their way back from the sea, moves constantly over rocks big and small e3dged by a plethora of vegetation that changes year-round.

Seashore at the end of day 1

This is a small part of a very long beach and ocean side along part of the east edge of the Firth of Clyde. Lot of water out there. The UK nuclear subs do drills and stuff way out/down there - although we’re not supposed to know that ! All sorts of UK navy ships do drills out there and, under the water, pretty much in the middle between the Isle of Arran and the Mainland is a sunken WWII ship which was apparently blown up by enemy sub fire. This small stretch of calmly moving waters, right tat the end of the avilable light of this day, gives us a peaceful calm look at patinas and reflectance, implied movement and several differing areas of light values, going out to the far horizon. Would have been nice to have had a dog somewhere on the beach to give it some scale !
