    Another butterfly, this time landing without disturbing the delicate white stuff inside which it finds food. Wonderfully beautiful synthesis of different forms of Life enabling each other to survive and look beautiful – all at the same time.

    This wonderful old heron lives on and around a local river that comes off a lake and seems to get a good living off the fish travelling to and from the lake and the sea. It usually flies off as soon as it sees you approaching but this time I managed to get close enough for this shot, camouflaged by large bushes along this side of the river. The late afternoon light just caught it beautifully. A big bird always on the qui-vive!

    These wasps flit fast and stay still hardly at all. Pleased to Have got some focus on this one at least !

    This inquisitive and fearless little robin redbreast hopped on to the far left of the tree trunk and moss I was focussing on and gradually hopped all the way into the shot and stayed there, in several different poses, having a good look at me, wondering what I was doing in its’ habitat far from other human habitation. By the time it flew off it had given me these four happy looks !

    These little Damsel Flies Have a strong iridescent blue colour that shines and seems to make them hovering blue lines in any light. They like to flit about in long reeds at the edges of lakes and will stay still for some time on a leaf bigger than them and make a lovely shot if you can be patient till they decide to stay put.

    These young deer roam in their small flocks on open protected land in Recreational Parkland and can be viewed from wooden lookouts at a safe enough distance so the animals get used to you being there and getting no closer. This one was enjoying the late afternoon sun while the rest of its’ flock grazed nearby.

    This baby Goose is one of four possibles and quietly getting used to seeing what this big new life is all about while it’s mother towers above it making sure nothing and nobody gets close.

    This small softly coloured snail almost looked like part of the twig it was clamped onto till I looked more closely and noticed the subtle beautifulnesses of its’ colours in the late afternoon light.

    Three of the four House-Geese on their bossy way round the various bits of land they explored each day. Great Grass mowers and very awake guard-geese!

    This noisy and challenging Mother-Seagull had made her nest for her three chicks on a flat bit of roof above a ground floor shop and screeched at anyone coming down the path to get into the main house. She could see us looking at her and her brood through the big back window and never gave up warning us off getting any closer.

    These are two of the chicks belonging to the loud Mother Seagull. Very new to their world and bumbling all over the place. Looking like works-in-progress. Seen through a glass darkly.

    This beautiful well-natured Large Black Alsation named ‘Delta’ by her Rescue-Owner was found in poor condition due to previous bad use and gradually became used to endless love and a warm happy home. Fiercely protective of her new owner and a joy to all who knew her.

    The bigger wingspan always wins out with geese. Humans have the biggest span they get close to and they will always run away from you if you walk towards them with arms outstretched.

    Seagulls like to woosh towards other seagulls on perches and see them take off and leave it free for the incoming bigger wingspan bird. This one was just off to look for fish out to sea probably and I happened to be focussing on it when it took off.

    This is the busy see-everywhere male of the small pride. He sniffs the air and decides where his charges will all go next and leads them off with a bark and a cough – and they all follow to the next place to graze.

    This awake female Deer keeping absolutely still while she checks out movement at the edge of her vision before discounting it as nothing she needs to worry about. Always on the qui-vive!
